A colourful, fun, pop art, psychedelic style yoga scene of a woman practising the cobra pose. Complete with flowers, fauna and a vibrant sunset in the background.
I was commissioned to design the front cover plus inside illustrations for Bulletin Magazine, the official magazine of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. The inside headline read ‘Celebrating the Shining Stars of the awards’.
They wanted a bright and fun general celebration image for their annual awards. I came up with various ideas involving trumpets, awards trophies and champagne glasses before the final design of a celebration trumpet bursting with streamers and stars was chosen.
The final artwork was done in my usual bright, pop art, style with lots of colour and pattern and stars to reflect the inside headline.
Find Your Zen
A 60s pop art style illustration of a woman practising some kind of yoga, mindfulness, zen to try and find some inner peace. Now with more rainbows.
My Happy Place
My Happy Place - is listening to music by an open window on a warm summer evening.
I wanted to push myself with this illustration, in terms of composition, colours and amount of detail, and to try and create a more fully realised scene with it's own atmosphere and feeling, rather than just a portrait or spot design.
I aimed to create a feeling of warmth and contentment, which is what I usually feel like when I'm listening to music.
Mary Quant at The V&A
The V&A in London were having an exhibition of outfits from famous 60’s fashion designer Mary Quant. For a self initiated project I created a triptych of poster designs for the exhibition using the Q letter as a focal point and the colours of red, white and blue to reinforce the British influence.
A design based on the Jeff Koons work of the same name. I went to see an exhibition of his work and loved the shiny metal sculptures that were there, as well as being generally inspired by all the work on display.
So this is my homage to ‘Balloon Venus’ complete with clam shell and waves.
An illustration based on the famous Beatles song and film, Yellow Submarine. Created in a fun, pop art, 60s, retro style with elements take from the animated film.
LEGO Checkered Flag
A fun Lego illustration created in a pop art fun style for sale as a print on a Lego fan website.
A selection of Easter based illustrations created in light, pastel colours.
My entry for the poster competition run by the AOI and London Transport Museum. The theme was London Stories and my design illustrates the London Matchgirls Strike of 1888 when women from a matchstick factory in East London went on strike to protest terrible working conditions, and then won!
Out of over 1500 entries, my design was chosen as part of the top 100 designs by the AOI and the London Transport Museum. It is featured in an exhibition at the museum until July 2019.
