A design I created based on my feeling of creativity and how it can burst forth from within. The illustration includes lots of 60’s and art deco style pattern and bright colours.
A bright female portrait with sunglasses and vibrant pink lips.
Francis Wren Candles
I had the job creating a packaging illustration for these scented candles. The client wanted just 3 colours, black, gold and white, a male and female figure plus the candle itself featuring prominently. They wanted the artwork to be elegant and appealing to a wide range of people.
I created a few different ideas and the final design was chosen due to the figures appearing mesmerised and intrigued by the scent.
The colours and design lent itself to an art deco style rendering with thick outlines and a geometric pattern in the background.
Vogue Japan Horoscopes
I was commissioned by Vogue Japan to create a title page and 3 colourful borders for the horoscopes section of their January 2019 edition. The commission was to be done in bright colours with a pop art, 1960s vibe.
The main themes were about nature, humanity and imagination. How we need to look inside ourselves and reflect in order to live our best lives. I created a few different ideas based on the theme of looking inside yourself or imagining a better world.
The final design is of a female portrait surrounded by colourful and luscious flowers, with large sunglasses reflecting a kind of paradise world of their imagination.
The 3 page borders used in the magazine were based on the theme of nature and each one has a distinct colour palette and content - flowers, birds and trees, butterflies and vines.
Lana Del Rey
A pop art portrait of singer and musician Lana Del Rey. Created in a stylistic manner but with enough likeness to be recognisable.
This work was inspired by a trip to see an exhibition by the pre-raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones. He created work that was used on stained glass windows using thick outlines and I created this portrait in that style.
My entry for a competition between The Barbican and Little White Lies and the brief was to design a portrait of a movie star who has been enhanced by technology in some way. They also supplied the colour scheme which would relate to the ‘Life Rewired’ exhibition at The Barbican.
I chose to create a portrait of Jessica Chastain with some kind of audio system attached to her head that could broadcast sounds as well as allow her to hear everything by surrounding her head.
Among the Flowers
A bright female portrait created in a pop art style with a fantasy scene of tropical and exotic flowers and rainbows in the background.
A fun pop art portrait on the theme of Strawberry Blonde.
